Sensible Healthy Eating & Low-Fat Meals

As mentioned throughout my Site, low-fat meals, the 'sensible way', are intended to be enjoyable, healthy and slimming - thereby making it possible to sustain an eating plan and a healthy and active lifestyle on a long-term basis.

Why the heck would anyone be interested in an eating plan which is boring and which will not satisfy your hunger? I know I would be one of the first to throw in the towel if 'healthy meals' meant that I would be subjected to lifelong misery in the eating department.

Remember, I don't do 'diets.' We're talking about a sensible 'eating plan' consisting mostly of healthy low-fat meals consumed at regular intervals.

Ah, 'mostly' - what's the catch?

No catch. Healthy eating the sensible way means also allowing a little bit of freedom to enjoy your favorite meals. Otherwise it wouldn't be 'sensible' - nor would it be realistic. Strict dieting inevitably causes one to feel deprived and often leads to binging, yo-yoing and brings with it much undue misery. Allowing yourself the occasional opportunity to eat a burger and fries, a pizza, or you-name-it, will contribute towards your physiological and psychological wellbeing while allowing you to manage your weight. In simple terms, your body will reflect what you eat most of the time thereby giving you the desired outcome.

Depending on my particular week or schedule, I either eat correctly (in other words healthy low-fat meals) for 6 straight days and then leave a weekend day (either Saturday or Sunday) to eat whatever I want - and I mean WHATEVER! The other option I use is to have 2-3 opportunities during a week to eat not-so healthy meals or desserts, but no more than 3 times in that week. Doing it this way needs more discipline but it gives you a measure of flexibility.

The list below sets out under various categories, the healthy meals which I currently use and which I used to get into the best shape of my life back in 2003. You're probably wondering how can one lose weight by NOT dieting? It's quite simple really. Dieting gets the whole deprivation frustration thing going and after spending lots of hard-earned money and time on weight loss gimmicks and trips to the Dietician, you usually end up where you started. It's far better, healthier and sustainable to make healthy meals and healthy eating part of your life.
